COURSE DESCRIPTIONS

CHANT + MANTRA

WITH LINDA SPACKMAN

Chanting mantras produces powerful vibrations that positively influence our state of mind, improving our physical, mental and emotional well-being. The process of listening and repeating Sanskrit sounds involves a quality of alertness and concentration that invites calm, attentive spaciousness, and a connection to what is beyond the ordinary.

Each class features unique material and draws upon chants from the Vedic Tradition, Yoga Sutra, and Bhagavad Gita.

Portions of each session are recorded and provided to students along with pdfs of chant material to encourage and support continuing practice.

CHANTS HONORING THE FEMININE

WITH WILLAMARIE MOORE

During this unique time in human history, many are acknowledging that feminine energy is rising, stewarding a profound paradigm shift and helping to bring balance back to the planet. As chanting produces powerful vibrations, join us as we chant mantras and invocations to feminine forces to support this energetic movement.

Each class features unique material. Portions of each session are recorded and provided to registered students along with pdfs of chants to encourage and support continuing practice.

PATANJALI’S YOGA SUTRAS

WITH SHAWN PAULAZZO

Knowing that there are as many types of yoga as there are practitioners, Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras are composed of 4 books of brief and varied aphorisms to guide and support the individual on their journey.

Each class will offer an opportunity to learn the chanting of one or two select sutras as well as an exploration into the context leading to lively discussion, application and reflection.

CHANTS OF THE SUN

WITH SHAWN PAULAZZO

My teacher once asked me to “take a walk with the Sun”. This unconditional force of nature that is always present spreading across the clearest of skies, behind the stormiest of clouds and reflecting off the fullness of the moon lit our walk together with a shared sense of clarity, strength and opportunity for new growth.

The practice of Vedic chanting nourishes our interrelationship with nature and allows those similar innate qualities within to come to the forefront of our being. In this class we will chant small parts of a few select chants of the sun to cultivate clarity, strength and lightness in every sense of the word.

CHANTS OF THE BHAGAVAD GITA

WITH WILLAMARIE MOORE

The Bhagavad Gita is one of the most important ancient Indian texts; its teachings can still be applied to our lives today. Learning to chant key verses — embodying the sacred sounds through the vibrations of our voice — helps us come to a deeper understanding of the meaning. In this 3-week series, we will focus on selected verses of the Gita through chant and discussion. Previous study of the Gita or experience with chanting is not required; all are welcome!

Portions of each session are recorded and provided to students registered for the full series, along with pdfs of chant material to encourage and support continuing practice.

WATER & PURIFICATION

WITH LINDA SPACKMAN

As we navigate through the complex responsibilities of daily life, we inevitably collect residue from our experiences. As the breath and mind are focused in the process of chanting, unhelpful thoughts and emotions fade from prominence.

Water is the element that washes, cleanses and purifies. We will practice chants that honor water in many forms.

Portions of each session are recorded and provided to students along with pdfs of chant material to encourage and support continuing practice.
