WENDELIN SCOTT
My first encounter with yoga at 28 was a life-changing moment of pure recognition and a feeling of coming home. Over the next decades of study, practicing, teaching and owning a yoga studio, yoga has saturated every aspect of my life -- it is the ground beneath my feet and the sky above me.
I study, practice and teach yoga in the Krishnamacharya lineage and offer what I have been taught by my teachers—including Kofi Busia, Paul Cabanis, Cristian Pisano—as it expresses through me. In addition to formal training with lineage holders, I have a Masters in Eastern Classics and Sanskrit from St. John’s College and a Bachelors from Bard College in History, Anthropology and Creative Writing.
My classes combine embodied asana practice with inspiration from personal experience, love of poetry, mysticism, anatomy and modern movement theory. I aim to guide students to authentically root in the tradition and also to explore a relevant, modern and unique path of practice. I emphasize practices and wisdom teachings that support a resilient nervous system, flowing life force energy and a quiet, integrated heart, body and mind.
